Midwest Missions Distribution Center
The Midwest Missions Distribution Center sends kits and other items to those in the U.S. and throughout the world experiencing natural disasters or where mission sites help with the needs of poverty. Volunteers perform the many tasks related to assembling various kits for shipment. The FUMC group travels to near Chatham the third Tuesday of each month. Volunteers leave from the church at 8:30 am and returns about noon.
Meals on Wheels
Meals on Wheels is a service program of the Senior Citizens of Christian County in cooperation with Meadow Manor Nursing Home. Area churches, civic groups, businesses and individuals deliver noon meals to homebound seviour citizens and adults with disabilities. Deliveries each day take approximately 45 minutes to an hour. FUMC is responsible for deliveries the last week of each month.
Dinner Seasoned with Love
Dinner Seasoned with Love is a free meal for everyone served monthly at Calvary Baptist Church. The dinner is held on the third Saturday each month from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Volunteers may cook, serve, clean-up or simply visit with the diners.
Missions for Taylorville
Missions for Taylorville is a community endeavor to assist people who need home improvements, repairs, or yard work. Hundreds of volunteers from churches, organizations, businesses, schools and individuals receive assignments for one big day’s work. Application forms for work needed and offers to volunteer are made available in participating churches. Work days are planned twice a year.
Taylorville Community Garden
The Taylorville Community Garden has the mission of creating and supporting opportunities for all residents to be a part of the process of growing, harvesting and consuming fresh garden fruits and vegetables. Working in an area on the grounds of Davis Memorial Christian Church, the non-denominational volunteers donate both “sweat equity” and non-physical tasks. Vegetables are grown in one big garden and distributed to the food pantry, needy families, senior citizens and to the volunteers who work the garden. The non-profit welcomes time and money donations to provide the seed, tools and water. The Facebook page can be consulted as to what time the garden is open and volunteers are needed.
Taylorville Food Pantry
Donations of canned and boxed non-perishable foods can be placed in tubs located in the church hallway. There they will be gathered and taken to the food pantry the first Sunday of each month. Food or monetary donations may also be taken to the pantry located at 1429 E Main Cross Street, Tuesday – Friday between 9:30 a.m. and 11:45 a.m.

Shadow Home
Shadow Home is a residential, faith-based program for homeless, abandoned, or abused women and their young children. Located at 118 West Franklin in Taylorville.
Shadow Box Store
The Shadow Box Store is Taylorville’s only non-profit resale store, located at 505 West Springfield Road. Proceeds benefit the Shadow Home and the Taylorville Food Pantry. Donations of clothes, kitchen needs, linens, toys, books, decorations, furniture and other donated items are accepted.
Decatur Correctional Center
This program accepts donations of gently worn women’s clothes. Clothing of all sizes and for all seasons are accepted. Clothing is given to assist in preparations for interviews for employment.

CEFS Economic Opportunity Corp
CEFS is a non-profit agency reaching economically and socially disadvantaged persons through programs such as emergency food and shelter, Head Start, energy assistance, transitional housing, etc. Members of FUMC have/do serve on the board. Located at 311 South Main in Taylorville, the organization accepts donations of reasonable household items, both perishable and non-perishable food, and unused personal hygiene items for all ages.
